The Dedication of a Teacher

It’s not just about coming to work, finishing your job for the day and heading back. It’s not just about the pay. It’s a way of life and a way to add value to someone else’s life.

Early last year, Meghshala began working in Manipur and we were gratified to see the dedication of its teachers.

Here are examples of some teachers in Manipur, so dedicated to their job they go out of their way to ensure their students also grow, are cared for and happy.

This building in Thoubal District, Manipur, which was once a government school, is no longer in use for its original purpose. But just like this retired teacher, this retired building is still going strong. Everyday, four children visit this building to learn and get food from this retired teacher, who knows that teaching and learning never end.

"Cleanliness and order are not matters of instinct, they are matters of education and like all great things, one must cultivate a taste for them." Benjamin Disraeli

T.H. Ajitkumar, a headmaster in Khunthoknganbi Upper Primary School in Imphal West knows this to be true. This is why he performs daily acts of kindness to ensure the students are developing into happy and healthy citizens of tomorrow, be it bringing them lunch or clipping their nails.

Like Khunthoknganbi Upper Primary School, Students and teachers of the Marem Khullen Upper Primary School in Manipur also ensure cleanliness by their weekly cleaning of the school and its surrounding areas.

Teachers have always held an important position in our society, they are the people we trust right after our parents. And just like parenting is a full-time job, teachers embrace the responsibility to mould and shape students into the well-rounded citizens of tomorrow by going above and beyond the call of duty.
